Anisa MacLean is the kiwi author of Surviving Marmite – A memoir of growing up Iranian in New Zealand. The book chronicles the family’s escape from an oppressive regime, to the complete culture shock experienced in their new home and her later experiences in Japan. Anisa writes in a respectful and authentic way about her family and friends creating both an intimate and magical realism. A delight to read, my wife was constantly asking me what was happening and what it was I was chuckling about.
